HomeThe first official awarding of APT Philippine 2016 winners took place earlier this afternoon with the Ante Up for Charity event winner, UK’s Samad Razavi, called on the stage for some well-deserved recognition. In the late hours of last night, Razavi defeated India’s Srinivas Polishetty to claim the event trophy and the first place purse of $1,520.

The Ante Up for Charity event had 62 entries, a record turnout for this event. The prize pool grew to $9,300 with $3,100 going to the charity organization, Feed A Child, Build A Nation Program of Rotary Club Makati North. The APT would like to thank all the players who participated in this event. This donation will feed 63 students in an entire school year at the F. Benitez Elementary School in Makati City.
Coming in a little later in the day for the official awarding of his trophy was the $50,000 Guaranteed Opening Event champion, Filipino Julius Lagman. Lagman bagged the first trophy of the festival, overcoming a monstrous field of 338 entries. He earned $18,210 for his fantastic run.
Pot Limit Omaha High Rollers Champion, Michael Falcon
At the Pot Limit Omaha High Rollers event, six players returned today for a battle to the finish. Filipino Johnson Tan held a dominating chip lead of 599,000 and the closest player to him was Denmark’s Michael Kim Falcon with 294,000 chips. The heads up round saw both of these tough players go head-to-head. After a long battle, they agreed on a deal; the player holding the most chips at the end of seven hands would claim the trophy and the first place purse. In the end, it was Falcon who claimed the title and $16,100. Tan earned $13,400 and third place finisher Germany’s Fabian Geisel received $7,400.
Battle of the Nations Champions, Shinichiro Tone and Hajime Mogi of Japan
Another event finishing up from yesterday was the Battle of the Nations event. There was a record attendance of 60 players for a total of 30 teams. Returning today were eight players, all from different teams. At the heads up round, it was Team Japan tandem Shinichiro Tone/Hajime Mogi up against Team USA tandem Noah Weimer/Gary Shotov. The chips swung back and forth several times until Team Japan had the edge and nearly eliminated Team USA if not for USA’s lucky two pair with jack-eight. This brought them back to even stacks. Not long after, it was all over with Team Japan holding strong with A♠ 9♥ defeating Team USA’s 4♣ 7♠ on a board of 8♥ 8♣ 5♦ K♥ K♠. Team Japan earned the first place cash of $2,580 and the event trophy for each of them.
