Anthony Abram goes from rags to riches
At four-handed, Anthony Abram was down to just 3 chips worth 5K each with blinds at 15K – 30K at the Super Deep Stack Turbo. He shoved four times and each time, his stack grew. After railing Takayuki Sakamoto in 4th place, Abram matched up with the then chip leader Liu Zhiqiang.
Helping Abram slide into the lead was Edward Penaflorida who took a big chunk of Zhiqiang’s stack holding J♥ J♦ on a board K♥ 9♣ 5♦ 3♥ A♠ with Zhiqiang missing his draw 8♥ 6♥. With one big blind remaining, Zhiqiang was bumped out by Abram to face Penaflorida at heads up with nearly a 2:1 chip lead. The players discussed a deal but since both wanted the trophy, it was bunked and the game resumed.
Abram went on to win it in just a handful of hands and pocketed the PHP 218,000 first prize money. For runner-up, Penaflorida earned PHP 145,400.
