Mauritius: New Stop for Asian Poker Tour

At a contract signing on Sunday – June 3, 2012, The Asian Poker Tour announced that it will stage APT Mauritius from 19th-26th August, 2012 at the Ti Vegas Casino, Grand Bay, Mauritius. The week long poker festival will feature an APT Asian Series event with a main event buy-in of EUR 900; 8 side events including a ladies event with buy-ins ranging from EUR 110 – EUR 440 as well a high rollers event with a buy-in of EUR 2200. In addition, there will be an added attraction for players a ‘Battle of the Nations’ team event at EUR 3,300 per team.

Making the announcement at the contract signing, APT CEO, Jeff Mann said that he was delighted that APT was moving beyond the borders of Asia. “We are responding to demand: our regular players throughout Asia are requesting more APT events in new locations and we have event organisers, casinos and venues worldwide now requesting to host an APT week,” he said.

“We are delighted to be working with a long term supporter of APT, MPPL/Paradise Events, who are the leading organiser of poker tournaments in this part of the World and Ti Vegas, one of the leading casinos on the island and at the forefront of poker development locally.”

The Asian Poker Tour has seen significant growth in recent years. From two events held in 2010, this new announcement means that the APT will stage at least eight major poker event weeks in 2012 and Mann confirmed that 2013 will see at least ten events being staged throughout next year.
