After a preflop raise war, Hoang Anh Tuan was all in with Q Q and faced big stacked Nguyen Quang Huy’s A K. The window card quickly dropped an ace and held for a higher pair to Nguyen and the rail for Hoang. Nguyen climbed to 370k.


Terry Nguyen survives the heat

Terry Nguyen is no stranger to being short. At Day 2 he was down to just 6 BB and clawed back to advance to today’s race. With 17 BB in his arsenal, he three-bet shoved holding A Q and initial raiser Huynh Ngoc Cuong gave him a sweat with A J. The board was good to Nguyen as it ran low for a double up to over 180K. As for Cuong, his stack was barely dented with 420k.


Yin Mingbao denies DC Nguyen

DC Nguyen was next to fall with K Q outdrawn by Yin Mingbao’s J 4 turned trips on the river K A J 5 J. Yin climbed from starting the day at 260k to now at 410k.


Thomas Ward rails Vu Duc Trung

Level: 18 Blinds: 2500-5000 Ante: 5000

All in with short stacked Vu Duc Trung ahead A Q against challenger Thomas Ward with A J, but when the board ran out 8 6 7 10 9, War improved to a crushing flush to ship it. Ward up to 280K.

Big pot for Nguyen Van Trung, chunks Yuthana Boonorm

With over 200K in the pot and a board of 3 10 7 5 K, Yuthana Boonorm had 45k out front that sent Nguyen Van Trung tanking. Nguyen eventually called and it was a good decision. Boonorm had A K top pair that was behind his A A overpair. Nguyen chipped up to 456k, Boonorm dropped to 125k.


Vu Minh Hai falls first

Vu Minh Hai became the day’s first casualty, risking his short stack with Q J but ran smack into Khoi Nguyen’s A A. Nguyen climbed to 150k.

Two double ups in the first five minutes

Two short stack players shoved and earned double ups. At table 32, Pham Van Tien had pocket Queens and got fully by paid by Pham Tien Dung with pocket Nines. Hoang Anh Tuan opted to fold and show his A-K suited.

At table 23, action folded to Luu Danh Tuan who risked it with 9 7, big blind Norbert Koh called with A 5. The board favored Tuan as it partnered up both of his cards for a double up to 137,500.
