Eemil Tuominen (Finland) is out of this tournament courtesy of Mike Takayama (Philippines) who now has around 220,000. One of the chip leaders if not THE chip leader at this point.
On a flop of 3♣ 6♥ 9♠, Simba (Korea) put 22,000 to the middle adding what was already a very healthy stack. Kodai Ishihara from across the table tanked for good two minutes before making the fold.
Simba shows pocket aces and says “thank you” to his opponent.
Lourdes Fernandez (Philippines) ousted Dhanesh Chainani (Singapore) holding pocket queens. Fernandez has around 80,000 in chips now.
Mike Takayama (Philippines) shared to us that he and an opponent shoved postflop 5♠ 10♦ 3♠. The opponent had pocket queens and the Filipino, who had A♣ 10♣ needed an ace or ten to bust out the opponent.
Takayama did find it in the turn 10♥ and the river 6♠ blanked giving Takayama yet another nice pot. Takayama, entered Day 2 as third in chips, he now has over 200,000.
Japan’s Azusa Maeda was one of the chip leaders entering Day 2. His his stack took a slight hit when he was up against Lim Min Soon of Singapore.
Flop read J♥ 7♥ 2♠ and Maeda fired 2,000 to the middle of an already raised pot. Min Soon replied with a shove worth almost 17,000. Maeda folded his hand.
On a flop of 8♠ J♣ 2♥, Dave Fish (Germany) opened for 6,900 and saw William Mcauley and Quang Nguyen (Vietnam) make the call.
On the turn 7♦ it was Mcauley who led out with a shove. Nguyen asked for a count (31,000) and made the call with Fish getting out of the way.
Nguyen: 9♠ 10♣
Mcauley: K♣ J♠
Drawing dead, Mcauley is busted out of the main event while Nguyen continues his climb.
Keith Seah from Singapore is making some big moves at the table that seem to leave his tablemates tanking or stunned. In one hand, Seah was up against William Te from the Philippines where in Te raised to 3200 from the hijack seat. From db position, Seah three-bet to 6700 that found a four-bet response from Te to a total of 9500. Wasting no time, Seah went all in sending Te tanking. Te folded. Seah has around 118K chips.
On the very next hand, Seah three-bet Michael Mariakis’s raise of 2500 (which incidentally found 3 callers) making it 5600 to go. Taking a stand was the player beside Seah on the bb seat Kenneth Khoo who four-bet to 15000. Action folded around the table and landed back on Seah who went all in. Khoo called for all his chips and they went to a showdown.
Khoo: K♠ 9♠
Seah: A♠ J♣
With the board running blanks, 2♣ 7♦ 2♦ 6♥ 5♥, Seah claimed the pot and booted Khoo out of the Main Event. Seah now has around 150K chips.
On a raised pot preflop, fellow Japanese players Yo Doi on the cutoff and Azusa Maeda from the utg seat watched the flop land 4♥ 3♣ 8♣. Acting first, Maeda bet 6500 which Doi called. At the turn of K♥ both players checked. Then on the river of 9♦, Maeda checked to Doi who bet 4500. Maeda called. Maeda won with his 9♥ 7♥ second pair against Doi’s A♥ 4♣ low pair. Maeda climbed to over 125K chips.
