Pham’s Meteoric Rise: Vietnamese Cowboys Eliminates Norbert Koh (22nd Place – PHP 116,000)

Level: 21 Blinds: 5000-10000 Ante: 1000

Singapore’s Norbert Koh entered Day 3 as one of the chip leaders but has now completely fallen off the cliff.

Against, Vietnam’s Huy Pham, who entered the day with just 61,000 (or roughly 10 big blinds), held pocket kings and was up against Koh’s pocket jacks preflop.

The board did not provide any help for Koh, who is eliminated from the main event. Pham is now hovering near the 900,000 mark.

Tran’s Ladies Ousts Phua Si Yang (23rd Place – PHP 116,000)

Level: 21 Blinds: 5000-10000 Ante: 1000

Quick eliminations here from one table to another. Linh Tran was responsible for the latest as his pocket queens held against short-stacked Singaporean Phua Si Yang, who is now out of the main event. We’re down to 22 players.

Simba: A 9

Kwang: Q J

The board ran 10 5 6 A A giving Simba a double up to around 120K chips.

Level: 21 Blinds: 5000-10000 Ante: 1000

No back-to-back APT titles for Mike Takayama.

A hand after his stack took a serious hit, he is busted out in a three-headed preflop showdown.

Takayama: A J
Chow Mun Fei: A Q
Michael Mariakis: K J

The board blanked 10 4 5 10 2 for both Takayama and Mariakis and Fei wins the nice pot.

Takayama’s Stack Takes Serious Hit

Level: 21 Blinds: 5000-10000 Ante: 1000

Michael Mariakis had Q 9 and completed his flush on a board of 6 10 J 8 7 in a HUGE pot against Mike Takayama.

We heard the loud yes from across the room and saw that Mariakis has now climbed to over 800,000 in chips. Takayama is down to 70,000 or so.

Philippines vs. Malaysia: Takayama Outplays Fai

Mike Takayama bet 17,000 on a flop of K 3 3 and saw Ngeow Chung Fai fire an additional 38,000 more. Takayama didn’t hesitate and announced all-in… forcing the fold from Fai.

Dave Fish Chippin’ Up

Dave Fish opened preflop with 22,000 and found a caller in Azusa Maeda.

Flop: 3 6 6
