Day 2 ends with 41 players! Lee Chang Hwan tops the heat by a hair

After eight hours of scheduled play, Day 2 of the Main Event is a wrap. We will have the chip counts for you shortly along with a recap. The money wasn’t reached with 41 remaining. Malaysia’s Lee Chang Hwan bagged the chip lead with 457k, Ryan Jerico Platon was a very close second with 455.5k. To round out the top three was Terry Gonzaga with a very close 451.5k. Ryan Jerico Platon rails Tor Welo

Ryan Jerico Platon added another player to his list of busts. His latest victim was Tor Welo who was all in with A K that failed to improve against Platon’s 7 7.


Richard Marquez denied the sweep; Alvarez triples, Atmaca out

Three way all in with Erkan Atmaca shoving, Richard Marquez called, Janno Alvarez shoved, Marquez called.

When the flop ran J-7-6, it looked like a sweep for the big stacked Marquez but with the turn 9 and river 10, Alvarez completed a straight and shipped it. Atmaca busted in the process.


Lee Chang Hwan vs David Erquiaga

Level: 17 Blinds: 2K-4K Ante: 4K

From hijack, David Erquiaga raised to 10.5k, button Lee Chang Hwan three-bet to 28k, after using up two time banks, Erquiaga called. On the flop 4 5 A, Lee c-bet 20k, Erquiaga check-called. On the turn 2, same action. Lee sent out 45k and Erquiaga check-called. On the river 3, Erquiaga checked again, Lee jammed with a stack that well covered Erquiaga who tanked. Erquiaga used up his last two time banks and was mucked when time ran out. Lee won the pot and showed A. He climbed back up to 465k. Erquiaga down to 91.5k.


Nico Valenton bluffs Matsuda

Level: 17 Blinds: 2K-4K Ante: 4K

Heavy action between Nico Valenton and John Matsuda. Hand opened with a raise by Matsuda from cutoff to 8.5k, button Valenton called. After the blinds foleded, the flop ran 8 10 2, Matsuda c-bet 13k, Valenton called. On the turn 4, Matsuda sent out 39k, Valenton stuck with him to bring on the river 7. Matsuda used up a time bank then checked, Valenton also used up one time bank then bet 68k which was exactly what Matsuda had behind. Matsuda tanked, using up two time banks before folding. Valenton showed 6 3 bluff. Valenton zoomed to 209k.
