Jin Yong avoids the rail and zooms to the chip lead

Jin Yong could have been dust in this hand. It began with Mohammad Samara raising to 5500, Mike Takayama called, William Ysmael three-bet to 21k, then Yong all in with his 223k stack. Both Samara and Takayama folded but Ysamel tossed in the big call.

The poker gods shined on Yong as it ran Q 5 6 8 Q for quads and a massive double up to 465k. He is now the chip leader. Ysmael dropped to 137k.


Eliminations galore

Yohn Paredes moved all in with 17.4k, Junichi Nakagiri moved all in. With no one else joining in, it was a duel. Paredes with A J and Nakagiri with 10 10. The board ran 5 10 J Q J for a full house to Nakagiri. Paredes was eliminated.

A splashy pot that saw several players in the hand left only two by the turn board of 9 3 A 5. Anh Nguyen was all in with 9 5 two pair and Juan Carlos Martin had him covered with 3 3 set. The river 6 sealed the win for Martin and Nguyen, the Day 1B chip leader, is out of the running. Nakagiri also eliminated Renato Labadan with 9-9 over A-9. 

William Ysmael ended the hopes of JC Sayo who shoved his short stack with A-Q but up ahead in the orbit was William Ysmael with A-K. The board paired both of Ysmael’s cards and Sayo was out.


Ram Farajash doubles up twice

Level: 12 Blinds: 1200-2400 Ante: 400

Ram Farajash has been taking a beating to his stack all day. He managed to land two double ups however will need much more to catch up to the leaders.

On his first double up, Kai Paulsen raised to 5200, Farajash moved all in for 17.5k, Yuri Odagiri four-bet to 30k, and it was a heads up match with Paulsen getting out of the way. Farajash had J-J and Odagiri with 7-7. The board bricked.

On his next double up, he limped in on the utg seat then saw a flop with both blinds in the hand. The flop ran A 4 2. Dave Chargualaf on the bb seat bet 5500, Farajash moved all in, Paulsen check-folded, and Chargualaf called.

The turn 7 and river A improved Farajash to a full house and he doubled up to 42k.


SJ Kim nears 400k, rails Terry Gonzaga

There are several past APT Main event champions running very well today with Gyeong Byeong Lee as one of the chip leaders with around 380K in chips. Soo Jo Kim now joined him up in the ranks and may even hold the chip lead with nearly 400k. Kim won two hefty pots with one causing the fall of Terry Gonzaga and the other a big pot against Ram Farajash.

First hand: Gonzaga raised to 5200, Kim called, Steffen Endres three-bet to 17.3k, Gonzaga called, Kim four-bet to 50k, Endres folded, Gonzaga called for all his chips. Gonzaga had 5 5 and Kim with Q Q. The board bricked.

Next hand: Farajash raised to 6k, Kim re-raised to 15k, Farajash called. On the flop 4 9 A, Farajash checked, Kim bet 16.5k, Farajash called. On the turn Q, action was the same with Farajash check-calling Kim’s 25k bet. On the river 4, Farajash checked, Kim announced all in, and Farajash folded.

Michel Ghanem sends another out

Michel Ghanem eliminated another player at his table, this time it was Kwon Leun Hei. Ghanem’s queens reigned over Kwon’s king-queen.


Kobechi frustrates Andy Li Xueyan

Andy Li Xueyan was not a happy camper when he folded to Kobechi. The two engaged in a hand that began with Kobechi raising to 7k on the button. Xueyan three-bet to 20.9k on the sb seat, and Kobechi called.

On the flop K 6 8, Xueyan bet 16.8k, Kobechi moved all in, and Xueyan folded while announcing he had queens.
