Tomoharu Furuya

Tomoharu Furuya is the man to catch up to at the moment. He is sitting with nearly 300k.

Aleksei Sei doubled up through Shota Shimozaki with K♦ K♥ holding against A♠ K♠ on a dry board. Shimozaki was crippled down to 3500 and busted shortly after.

Sachiko Harima was all in with K♦ K♥ and Simon Cho doubled her up with A-K missing the board. Cho said it was his third attempt at trying to knock her out.

Yoichi Uesugi knocked out Akihiro Ueda with 5♣ 5♦ staying ahead of A♠ K♥ on a board of Q♠ 8♣ 4♣ Q♥ J♦.

Yuji Masaki fell to Norihiko Ogawa with another A-K missing the board. Ogawa had Q-Q.

We just discovered that the player missing in action is in fact a double qualifier by the name of Saitoh Ryuichi. He is in the field with however he just lost a pot against Fokin Valeriy.

The hand kicked off with Saitoh raising to 3k and Valeriy making the call. At the flop 8♣ A♠ 2♦, Saitoh fired another 3k and Valeriy called. On the 8♥ turn, same action with a 2500 bet that was called. Then on the 5♥ river, no bets came, Saitoh had A♥ 4♣ two pair but was out-kicked by Valeriy’s A♣ 10♠.

Soichiro Kojiya

Day 1A chip leader Soichiro Kojiya is stacking up nicely, he now has around 200k. We just caught saw him take down a pot. Cutoff player Aya Kagawa raised to 2600, Kojiya three-bet from bb seat to 6k, and Kagawa called. At the flop K♠ 9♦ J♣, Kojiya c-bet 5k and was called. On the A♣ turn, no bets came but on the A♠ river, Kojiya bet 15k and won it with Kagawa folding.

Action folded to the button Jacky Wong. He raised to 3200 and was called by both sb Shiga Mitsuhiro and bb Masaki Hirayama. The flop landed K♦ K♣ 7♣. Blinds checked to Wong who c-bet 3500. Only Hirayama called. On the 4♣ turn, Hirayama led for 5k, Wong tanked then folded.

We have one player still missing in action… his stack is now down to half.

Kyung Min Lee (L) and Ruiko Mamiya (R)

Aggressive bets by Kyung Min Lee had Ruiko Mamiya tanking a bit on the river. Action between them began with Lee raising preflop from mid-position and Mamiya calling from his Lee’s left. At the flop 6♠ 6♥ K♣, no bets came. on the 3♠ turn, Lee c-bet 3800 and Mamiya called. On the 2♥ river, Lee fired 10.9k, and after a minute, Mamiya folded. Lee showed his Q♣ 10♦ bluff.

When looking down at aces preflop, there’s a kind of rush knowing you have the nuts hole cards. Sometimes, this hand tends to hold and sometimes not.

Starting the round, Tatsuya Hirose thee-bet all in with A♦ A♣ and initial raiser Shinji Sugeta called with A♠ Q♦. The board ran K♦ 3♦ 8♦ J♣ 10♣ for a winning straight to Sugeta. Hirose was eliminated.

Kondo Motohiro had better luck with the nuts. He three-bet all in his 10.3k short stack. Big blind Chen Song called and utg initial raiser Toshimasa Sakato called At the flop 4♥ 3♦ 9♠, Song checked, Sakato bet, and Song folded. Sakata Q♦ Q♣, Motohiro A♠ A♥. The turn J♣ and river J♦ secured the win and a triple up for Motohiro.
