Two-time APT champion Mike Takayama will not be making it a third. He was bumped out of the running by Kosei Ichinose. Catching the hand on a flop 9♠ 5♣ 3♥, Takayama was all in and Ichinose sat tanking. The Japanese pro found the courage to call the big shove.
Takayama 9♣ 6♣ top pair
Ichinose J♥ J♠ overpair
The turn 10♠ and river Q♥ were no help to Takayama. Ichinose shipped it and now sits with around 170k.
Lim Yohwan ended the hopes of Hirotaka Limura in brutal fashion. Yohwan raised 6k preflop, LImura three-bet, Yohwan called. At the flop 3♥ 6♥ 2♠, Yohwan check-called a 15k bet. On the 8♠ turn, Yohwan checked, Limura shoved, Yohwan snap-called.
Limura 9♠ 9♦ overpair
Yohwan 3♦ 3♠ set
The river 6♠ improved Yohwan further to a full house.
Michael Wee jammed his 65k stack and was called by Seo Dong Kyoon but not after tanking for quite a while. Wee A♥ Q♠, Seo K♥ K♠. No bad beat on the board and Wee was eliminated. Seo up to 150k.
Heavy preflop action started with utg player raising to 5k. Anton Del Rosario called, sb Stephen Miles three-bet to 25k, bb Kentaro Somekawa shoved for a total of 30.6k, action folded around and back to Miles with the call.
Miles A♥ K♣
Somekawa 9♠ 9♦
The board bricked 4♦ Q♠ 5♠ 8♦ J♣ for a double up to Somekawa.
With 34k pre-brewed, three players stared down a turn board 3♠ A♠ 6♣ 2♦. Big blind Shimizu laid out a 22k bet, called by Matt Ericson and a fold by Alfie Poetra. On the 8♠ river Shimizu bet 30k and won it with Ericson folding.
Anton Del Rosario was one of the chip leaders entering this round but not anymore. He lost a couple of pots, one to Sam Welbourne and the other, a much larger chunk to Changjae Lee. The hand saw a raised pot preflop, the board J♥ 2♥ 4♠. A betting war followed leading the players to send it all out front.
Del Rosario J♣ 2♣ two pair
Lee K♣ K♠ overpair
When the turn 4♦ came down, Lee overtook. The river 3♦ completed the hand and Lee shipped a double to 225k. A very stunned Del Rosario fell to 100k.
At this same time last year, Jack En Ching Wu finished 2nd at the APT Finale Main Event held in Macau. That was the closest he reached at an APT major. He is in fine form today sitting with around 220k. He lost a little to Mikiya Kudo in this hand. On a raised pot preflop, the cards landed 2♣ K♥ 4♦. Wu check-called Kudo’s 4k bet. On the 7♣ turn, Wu check-called another 6k bet. Then with the river 8♠, Wu folded to a 15k bet.

In 2016, Kah Boon Teh placed second at the APT Philippines Main Event falling only to two-time champion Seung Soo Jeon. Teh was quite memorable in that tournament as he knocked out players with incredibly lucky spreads. This is the first time we’ve seen him back at the APT felt. He is running well. We saw him scoop one up with K♦ Q♦ flush on a board 2♦ 6♦ 9♦ K♥ 4♦. He currently sits with around 175k.
