Bubble round fireworks here with Linh Tran up against David Tai. The hand kicked off with a 10k raise from Tai, Tran three-bet to 18k, Tai upped it to 42k, Tran shoved for 98.5k total.
Tran A♥ A♠
Tai A♦ J♥
The board ran 5♣ 10♣ J♠ 2♥ 3♥ for a double up to Tran. He now has nearly 200k while Tai dropped to 50k. After this hand, Tran proceded to win two more pots though significantly smaller.
Big stacked Le Ngoc Khanh and Lim Yohwan stared down a flop A♣ 2♦ 4♦ with preflop raised pot before them. Khanh led for 26k and was called. On the K♦ turn, Khanh sent out 31k and was again called. On the A♠ river, no bets arrived and Khanh had to show his 5♠ 7♠ missed draw. Yohwan won with A♦ 5♣ trips. Yohwan up to 330k, Khanh dropped to 270k.
Kentaro Somekawa doubled up his very short stack during one of the first hands of the day but still couldn’t hold on to it. He was eliminated in 54th place by Cheli Lin with 7-7 falling to A♣ J♣ on a board 2♣ 9♣ K♠ 4♠ J♠.
We are now on the bubble with 53 players remaining.
One of the remaining APT champions in the field, Czardy Rivera raised to 8500. He was called by Mikiya Kudo on the bug blind. At the flop 7♣ 3♣ K♠, both checked it. On the J♦ turn, Kudo bet 24k, Rivera called. On the {kd river, Kudo shoved and won the pot with Rivera folding. Kudo at 270k.
The first dropout of the day was Anthony Abram with his 8 bb stack unable to double up. That brought the field to 55 players. Next to fall was Marcuss Liow.
Liow entered Day 3 with an above average stack and in one unlucky hand, he was painfully booted out. The hand saw Le Ngoc Khanh raise to 8k, Liow three-bet to 14k, Khanh four-bet to 25k, Liow shoved with 130k. Khanh tanked then called.
Liow K♦ K♣
Khanh A♥ Q♥
Though Khanh had one overcard, when the flop landed 7♠ Q♣ Q♠ his one lady found twins to improve to trips. The turn and river 2♣ 10♣ completed the board and Liow was eliminated.
