Short stacks are firing it out here. While one of them was sent to the rail, Diego Palma, for players Yang Zhang and Luen Hei Kwok, their shoves were waved off. We are at 23 players. Money round begins at 18 places.
At table 4, Andrew An came out smiling with his A♠ Q♥ shove earning him a double up through Varun Gupta. Gupta had 7♦ 7♥. The board drew out Q♠ J♠ 9♣ 2♣ 10♣ for a higher pair. An now sits with around 125k.
Short stacked Lim Shyh Chyn claimed the first pot at his table. He defended his big blind by calling utg player Wim Bos’s raise to 8k. At the flop J♥ J♦ K♥, no bets were laid out but on the 2♥ turn, Chyn bet 11k and was called. On the river A♥, Chyn fired out another 11k and won the pot with Bos folding up. Chyn showed his 8♥ 5♥ flush.
Cards are now flying for Day 3 of the Main Event. 24 players are in battle gear looking to enter the money round at 18 places and eventually secure one of the Final 8 berths.
Average stack today is 163,541 which means we have plenty of short stacks needing to boost up to be in contention. Not having to worry on that front are the top three chip leaders Michael Soyza, Jack En-Ching Wu, and Kai Paulsen with all over double the average stack.
Good luck to all the players!
