Bryan Huang slowly watched his chips dwindle down from 30K to 13K and decided it was time to make his move when he looked down at A♦ 8♥. He found himself a caller in Lester Pinto who had J♠ J♦. At the flop of A♠ K♦ K♥, Huang was looking pretty good, but with the turn burning a J♣ on the felt, Pinto connected and now had a boat. With the river of 10♠, Huang did not improve and was eliminated.
Luke Pangan gained more chips with his 8♣ 8♠ landing a full house on a board showing K♦ 7♦ 8♥ 10♥ 7♣. He was paid around 30K for this hand.
We aren’t sure what happened preflop but at the flop of 7♦ 7♣ 7♠, the two players remaining in the hand, Joven Huerto and Gerard Bringley got into some heavy action with Huerto checking, Bringley betting 6400, raised to 13,000 by Huerto, and then called by Bringley. At the turn of J♥, action did not stop with Huerto leading out for 10,000, raised to 35,000 by Bringley, then called by Huerto. At the river of 2♥, Huerto checked his option, Bringley shoved, and instantly, Huerto called with his remaining 21,000. Huerto won the pot with 7♥ 5♦ quads against Bringley’s A♦ J♣ full house. Bringley’s stack took a beating and is now down to around 15K.
Entering Day 2 as the overall chipleader, Tan Tai Zheng tangled in a pot with two players that ended in his favor. During the hand, Yusuke Otsuka raised to 3500 preflop and was called by both Yujung Choi and Zheng. At the flop of Q♥ 5♥ 5♠, everyone checked, but at the turn of 7♦, Choi bet 7000, got check-raised to 17,200 by Zheng, to which both Otsuka and Choi folded. Zheng picked up the pot.
Renato Villanueva Jr.’s day ended with a painful bust out against Jay Lubas. During the hand, Villanueva was all in for 23,200 and was called by big stack Lubas. Villanueva had 10♣ 10♦ versus Lubas’s 9♠ 9♣. With the flop landing J♣ 10♦ 5♠, Villanueva looked like a shoe-in to double up, but with the turn of Q♥, giving Lubas an open-ended straight draw, Villanueva was in a bit of a scare. Then when the river slapped an 8♣ on the felt, Lubas landed the straight and Villanueva packed up to leave.
David Erquiaga has doubled up the amount of chips he came into Day 2 with and now sits at around 90K. In a recent action hand, Erquiaga was up against a player in mid position who raised it up to 3600. Erquiaga replied with a re-raise to 8600, and after some thought, the mp player called. At the flop of 2♣ 7♥ A♥, action was checked to Erquiaga who bet 8000 only to hear his opponent go all in. Without a thought, Erquiaga snap-called and showed his A♠ A♣ set way ahead of his opponent’s 7♣ 7♦ set. With the turn of 9♦ and river of 6♦, Erquiaga took it down with a sweet hand.
