99 runners came out today for Day 1B of the APT Philippines Championships II 2018 – CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENT – at Resorts World Manila. Among the many reasons attracting them to the felt was the 8M advertised guarantee. With each entry at PHP 82,500, this was more than enough to surpass the guarantee. We won’t have the official numbers until after registration closes tomorrow but what we do have are tonight’s results.
Day 1B closed with 58 remaining players. Finishing up top very close in chips were Singapore’s Jun Yi Ong with 203,000 and Korea’s Jae Hyun Lim with 201,600.
Also high in the count was none other than Filipino Lester Edoc with 188,800 for third position. We can’t seem to write enough about Edoc who won the Main Event two night’s ago for back-to-back APT Philippines major titles.
Making it through the day as well was APT Philippines Championships Event defending champion, Japan’s Iori Yogo with 103,600. Yogo had a clutch victory in this event back in April, denying Edoc a double title.
Joining these qualifiers are many notable players that include APT major titleholders: Gerard Bringley, Gyeong Byeong Lee, Linh Tran, Alexis Lim, In Chul Sin, and Kwok Kwan Kit.
One memorable moment we caught today was Ang Boon Seng‘s quads that earned him a little pay. He too bagged up to advance with 71,800.
Congratulations to all the qualifiers! They merge with the 26 Day 1A survivors at 1pm tomorrow. Registration stays open for one more hour so for all of you on the rail, this will be your last chance at what is brewing to be a very juicy pot.
