Han Wook Kim in Front at APT Macau Day 1A

Day 1A of the much-awaited HKD $25,000 buy-in Asian Poker Tour (APT) Main Event began yesterday with 102 players taking their seats and just 62 making it through to Day 2. Leading the charge is Korea’s Han Wook Kim with 57,450 in chips, which is only marginally in front of Norway’s Kai Paulsen on 56,850 and France’s Barouk Philippe on 56,375.

The top 10 chip counts also include Bjoern Wiesler (46,075), 2012 APT Asian Series Goa champion Martin Nilsson (45,100) and Winfred Yu (41,150).

Others to do well on Day 1A were Marc Rivera (33,375), Raiden Kan (32,575) and Kenneth Wong (21,800). While those who will have a little more work to do on Day 2 include Oliver Speidel (18,125), Nam Le (16,000), Charles Chua (15,450), William Reynolds (15,425), Michael Marvanek (15,300), Jeff Rossiter (14,950) and Team Bodog’s Jay Tan (10,725).

Also happening at the same time as the Main Event yesterday was the HKD $3,300 buy-in DafaPoker Freezeout 1, which attracted a field of 111 players. Elton Ho took down the title after defeating Yi Po Lee at heads up. The final hand came with Ho’s A♣ J♥ in front of Lee’s Q♥ 9♦. Nothing changed on the board of 8♥ 8♣ 4♥ K♥ 6♦ and won HKD $107,700 in first place prize money.
