Feng Zhao Wins the High Rollers, Takes the Lead in the POY; Bringley and Villamar Also Take Home Trophies

High Roller King, Feng Zhao

Feng Zhao of Singapore has just overtaken Samad Razavi for the top spot in the APT Player of the Year 2014 leaderboard after his crushing win at the High Rollers event. Zhao entered the final day in the upper tier of the pack, but it was during the heads up round against Flo Camponanes where he dominated his opponent and took it in just four hands. The major turning point was the second hand where Camponanes shoved on the turn with his nut flush but only to be stunned and crippled by Zhao’s full house. In addition to the massive first prize purse of P1,474,000, Zhao has now claimed his second title of the year plus 270 points towards the APT POY 2014.

Head Hunter Champion, Gerard Bringley

The Head Hunter event ended with Gerard Bringley scalping heads left and right and all his opponents could do was shake off his incredible win. Bringley eliminated Jojo Tech in third place with a full house and Jonald Garcia in second place with trips against top pair. Bringley collected P522,500, the Head Hunter trophy, and lots of bounties deep into his pocket.

Poker Queen is Rosemarie Villamar

In the Ladies Event, Rosemarie Villamar outlasted a field of 31 entries and took home P78,400 in cold hard cash plus the coveted trophy that has eluded her twice in the past. Villamar had a difficult time taking down her opponent Lorna Williams in the heads up round. The chips swung back and forth until eventually, her ace-jack landed two pairs against Williams’ pocket sevens.

The Main Event (Day 1A) begins at 1pm tomorrow. There will also be a No Limit Holdem Event at 3pm and a Last Chance Main Event Mega Satellite at 7pm.
