HomeAs advertised, the Asian Poker Tour opens up the 2018 season with a roaring VND 3 Billion Guaranteed Main Event! This featured tournament is the only event where you can win the solid silver APT Championship Ring. These iconic bands were introduced back in January 2016 and have since been the most coveted prize offered by the APT.
The APT Championship Ring
The Main Event will run from January 21 – 27 at the Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh. This is a No Limit Texas Hold’em tournament, and it comes equipped with the best structure in the region. You can view the structure here, just scroll down to page 3&4. Additionally, there are several important changes that will be in effect so make sure to read through the information provided below.
Buy-in: VND 16,500,000
Starting stack: 50,000
Opening blinds: 100 – 200
Level intervals: 60 minutes
Below is the schedule breakdown. Please take note there is a one day gap between Day 1A and Day 1B. Other than the Final 8, game time begins promptly at 1pm.
Day 1A – Sunday, January 21 – play until end of Level 8
Day 1B – Tuesday, January 23 – play until end of Level 8
Day 1C – Wednesday, January 24 – play until end of Level 8
*Late registration: closes at the start of Level 10 which means players may now sign up on the first hour of Day 2.
Day 2 – Thursday, January 25
*IMPORTANT UPDATE as of January 23rd: Due to the high turnout of the Main Event, Day 2 will now be split into two flights: 1pm and 6pm. Both flights will play a total of 5 rounds. For those that advanced via Day 1A and Day 1B, please click the links to find out what flight time you have been assigned.
Day 3 – Friday, January 26 – play until the Final 8 is reached
Final 8 – Saturday, January 27 – begins at 130 pm
For players attempting multiple stacks, keep in mind only your best stack moves forward, extra stacks will be removed from play. Also, players will be allowed to forfeit a stack before close of registration in order to re-enter.
For those looking to get in the main at a lower cost, you can try and win your seat at one of the four Main Event Mega Satellites offered from January 20 – 23.

Main Event Bubble Protection
We’ve all experienced that nerve-wracking moment sitting on a very short stack during the bubble round hoping we can hang on long enough just to reach the money. When that fateful bubble lands on you, it sends nothing short of a crushing blow. Due to this, two years ago, the APT implemented an incentive known as the Main Event Bubble Protection. This protection acts as an insurance policy during that crucial bubble round. The protection is free and is open to anyone participating in the Main Event, but first, players must qualify in order to be protected. Once qualified, in the event that you bubble, you will still be eliminated however you won’t walk away empty-handed. You will receive a consolation prize of one Main Event seat in APT tournament credits.
To be eligible for the protection, just follow these three simple steps below:
- Pre-Register
- Draw for your seat before starting time
- Have your chips put into play on the first deal of round number 1
* Players that qualify for Bubble Protection will maintain the status on a same day re-entry.
* Players wanting Bubble Protection on a next day re-entry will have to go back to step 1.
