Asian Poker Tour to be Major Sponsor at China Poker Carnival 2012

The China Poker Carnival 2012 (CPC), the only officially recognised poker tournament in China now in its 4th year has announced that it has secured a major sponsorship deal with the Asian Poker Tour for this year’s event to be staged at the MGM Sanya Resort in Hainan, China from 18th-22nd March 2012.

Previously the event has been successfully held in Beijing attracting approximately 100 players, the majority of whom were local players from China.

“This year we are looking to more than triple the player numbers with more players and hope to attract a number of players from overseas, meaning we needed to source a much bigger venue which is how we decided upon the wonderful MGM Sanya Resort” said Cindy Wang of CPC. With the endorsement of the Hainan regional Government and the support of MGM plus Hainan’s ‘beach’ atmosphere, we feel we have the right venue to take the CPC event to the next level – a truly international event. The APT is a well respected brand in China and we are delighted to have them as our major partner moving forward.”

Given the regulations in China, the CPC is an invitational only event and there is no player buy-in, this year the event is sanctioned to offer a total prize pool of 1M CNY.

Speaking at the contract signing at the recently staged APT Cebu, Mr Jeff Mann, CEO of APT said, “We have had a close working relationship CPC for the past two years and are delighted that we can now formalise our arrangement and contribute a lot more to the continued success of this event. The event will be an APT sanctioned tournament and will be run to international poker standards.”

Full details of this 5 day festival of poker will be announced shortly.
