It is now official and confirmed! One of the most anticipated events on the poker calendar – Asian Poker Tour’s APT Macau will be returning to the StarWorld Hotel Macau from July 24th to July 31st 2013.
With a main event buy-in of HK$ 25,000 (approx. US$ 3,220) the event will be staged for the fourth time in the luxurious Grand Ballroom of the StarWorld Hotel. The eight-day event features eight Main Event Satellites, fourteen Side Events including the ever popular Head Hunter tournament along with a No Limit Hold’em Re-Entry event, Freezeouts, Pot Limit Omaha events, Heads Up and 6 Handed tournaments.
“We are delighted to be returning to Macau and to working with the team at the StarWorld Hotel and Casino once again. Last year the event was one of our most successful events ever and we are expecting a record eight days of continuous poker action this time.” said Jeff Mann, CEO of APT.
Last year the event had 1,316 total player entries from 36 countries. Total prize pool for the entire week was over HK$ 11,281,000.
Taiwan’s Carlos Chang took home the Main Event title after he outlasted a field of 268 entries to win the HKD $25,000 buy-in Main Event and walked away with the winner’s check for HK$ 1,913,100. DafaPoker Ambassador Richard Zhu had the chip lead going into final table but was, unfortunately, a big contributor to Chang’s win. At three-handed, Chang got the better of Zhu in two key hands when he rivered a full house and then a flush, getting paid on both occasions.
Chang was then able to knock Zhu out in third and went into the heads up with a huge 7:1 chip lead over Team Poker King Club’s Winfred Yu. The final hand came a short while later when both players checked a flop of J♦ 10♠ 4♥. On the A♦ turn Yu shoved on a bluff with Q♣ 4♣ but Chang made the call with 10♦ 8♦ for a pair of tens and a flush draw. The river J♠ meant it was all over and Yu went home with HKD $1,016,400 in runner-up prize money.
