The Asian Poker Tour continues to set the bar in Vietnam amassing a record-breaking VND 9,680,600,000 prize pool at the APT Vietnam Ho Chi Minh Championships MAIN EVENT. As the first international brand in Vietnam, the tour broke its own record set back in January at partner and host venue, Pro Poker Club.
Today’s heated action was Day 1C, the last entry flight to join the featured event. Crowds of players stormed in that by midway into the second hour, the VND 6 Billion guarantee was completely obliterated. At the close of day, there were a total of 252 entries strong with 107 remaining at bagging time.

Lim Yohwan aka Boxer wins the WeLoveSport event
Korea’s Lim Yohwan aka Boxer powered through the lightning-paced WeLoveSport Deep Stack Turbo event and closed it out with quads to capture his first trophy of the series along with VND 93,480,000 in cash. You can watch Boxer’s final 8 road to victory in APT Twitch and in APT YouTube. For our readers, we’ve got a recap for you below.
The WeloveSport.com event was a two-day affair that saw a total of 107 entries for a prize pool of VND 415,160,000. On the first day, the bubble burst with Tran Tuan Long’s K♣ J♦ outdrawing a player’s J♠ J♥ on a board of 9♦ A♣ K♥ 5♦ 10♥.
With 18 remaining and everyone secured some cash, eliminations were quick. The official final table of 8 was formed after Adrien Choux was railed in a three-way showdown. Choux had 9♦ 9♥, chip leader Boxer also had 9♣ 9♠, and Sung Woong Lee with A♥ K♥ that improved to broadway on a board of 10♦ 4♦ Q♣ J♥ J♦.
On the second day, the final 8 players returned. Boxer came out firing, booting out Gao Ngoc Anh (8th) on the first hand. He then followed it up with a double elimination, sending Tran Tuan Long (7th) and Kang Feng Lien (6th) out simultaneously. Boxer held A♠ Q♠, Tran with K♣ Q♦, and Kang with A♥ 6♠. The board felted 7♥ 8♦ Q♠ J♦ 10♣.
Hisashi Ogi was the next casualty of the final table, railed by Lee in 5th place. From there, the chip lead moved around the table. Lee took it away from Boxer after busting Ji Woon Kim (4th). Wu grabbed it next on a big double up against Lee with A-10 over A-6. Then Boxer joined the race, taking back the high status with a double up through Wu. Heads up arrived after Lee railed Wu (3rd) with A♥ A♣ over 2♣ 2♠.
The final hurdle to the trophy began with Lee up in chips but briefly. Boxer landed a double up with 9♥ 8♣ trips on a board of 9♠ 10♣ 9♦ 3♥ 4♠ to slide back up top which he never relinquished. The final hand came with Lee pushing his short stack with 9♥ 9♠ and Boxer calling with 10♣ 3♦. The board felted 8♦ 10♠ 10♦ Q♠ 10♥ for a game-ending quads.
