Aditya “Intervention” Agarwal has won the opening event of the APT Asian Series Goa to score INR 182,000 in prize money. The INR 10,000 Freezeout tournament attracted 58 players and generated a total prize pool of INR 522,000.
Many notable players from around India were seated in the event such as Sangeeth Mohan, Abhishek Goindi, Kunal Chandra, Rohit Bhalla, Amit Varma, Aditya Agarwal, Dhaval Mudgal and Rahul Byrraju.
The final table was played out in fast motion as the highly aggressive players clashed and Agarwal eventually emerged victorious. He defeated reigning APT Asian Series Main Event champion Sangeeth Mohan in the heads up match. The final hand came with Mohan’s stack crippled and his Q♦ Q♥ losing to Agarwal’s 8♣ 8♠. The board of 7♠ 5♠ 9♠ K♥ 8♥ gave Agarwal trips on the river to take down the title.
