Main Event Day 1B draws a storm of 151 entries; 58 advance; chip leader Lee Macau sets the bar sky high

Friday at the APT Summer Festival Hanoi – VSOP2022 drew a huge crowd at MAIN EVENT Day 1B with 151 turning up. This was well more than double the Day 1A turnout of 67 entries to bring the cumulative attendance to 218. At the end of the scheduled nine rounds, 58 players survived with Lee Macau bagging an enormous 266,500. This was equivalent to over 10 starting stacks. He will enter Day 2 with a staggering 333 BB. One of the hands that helped Lee build this monster was pocket Queens that cleaned out a player with pocket Tens. Also closing the day with mighty stacks were Hoa Thien with 194,100 and Ham Heung Chul with 184,100. The top three players from this heat are now the Day 2 front runners. Day 1A chip leader Ritwik Khanna dropped to fourth rank.

Aside from the leaders, notable players making the cut were the Superstar Challenge champion Dao Minh Phu, Ashish Munot, Huy Pham, Tran Duc Son, and Yee Kong Hoang who was seen doubling up when his J♦ 10♦ rivered a royal flush on a board Q♦ 8♣ K♦ 7♥ A♦ to outdraw K♣ Q♥. 

Up next is Day 1c, this is the last starting day which gets underway at 11am on Saturday, July 16. With the event already at 218 entries, there is no doubt that the VN₫ 5 Billion guarantee will be breached. The question is, by how much? Registration stays open throughout the scheduled nine levels. For a buy in of VN₫ 22,000,000 players start with a 25,000 stack with blinds opening at 50 – 100. Make sure to get to the venue early and have your chips in play on the first hand of Level 1 to qualify for Bubble Protection. For those that miss their chance at Day 1C, you can still sign up during the first two levels of Day 2.
