Another impressive day at the races with 59 added to the Championships Event player pool to bring the total to 216 entries. With buy in at VN₫ 38,500,000 each, the prize pool ballooned from a guarantee of VN₫ 4BN to a massive VN₫ 7,333,250,000 (~US$ 315,540). After eight hours of Day 2 scheduled play, 35 players were left with Filipino pro David Erquiaga boasting the biggest stack of 714,000 (89 BB). Erquiaga’s rise was largely due to cleaning out Chang Yong Suk with trip nines that cracked pocket Aces.

Also advancing was APT Vietnam Phu Quoc Main Event champion Hue Dang who suffered a big hit to her stack near bagging time to finish with just 90,000 (11 BB). She is the last APT decorated champion in the field. Two notable players also making the cut were series Main Event finalists 3rd placer Nguyen Van Trung (239,000 – 30 BB) and 5th placer Pham Tien Dung (275,000 – 34 BB). Of the two, Pham had the more erratic run, entering plenty of pots that sent his stack seesawing. VSOP’s Tran Huy Hoang aka Louis Tran was one of the day’s early chip leaders after he booted Dao Minh Phu on a shocking pocket Kings flush over pocket Kings, he closed the day with 506,000 (63 BB).
To cap off the night, a crowd built around table 32 where Hoang Thai Son aka Son Hoang faced a big bet on the river from Hajime Murase. After using four time-banks, Hoang called and won the pot without having to show with Murase quickly mucking his failed bluff. Hoang had two pair.
On the flip side, among those falling by the wayside were APT decorated champions Huy Pham, Ngoc Anh Cao, Huu Dung Nguyen, Manish Lakhotia, and newly minted Shardul Parthasarathi.
The final 35 players return to action for Day 3 on Saturday, June 18 starting at noon. They will hunt down the money which starts at 22nd place. Once reached, it is a race to a Final 8 seat. Payouts begin at VN₫ 76,340,000 (~US$ 3,285) with the eventual champion due to pocket a fine first prize of VN₫ 1,823,500,000 (~US$ 78,465). Live updates will run from start to finish.
The inaugural APT Vietnam Hanoi Loyal 2022 is in the final stretch with only two days of games left. The festival got underway on June 7 and will run through June 19 at the Grand Loyal Poker Club.
