“It’s great that we are headed back to Ho Chi Minh City, where we held the first international poker event in the country back in 2018. I am pretty sure that players that have attended our past events held here are going to be thrilled because the city has so much to offer, great food, shopping, and many places to party. Just name it, and Ho Chi Minh has it!” stated Lloyd Fontillas, APT General Manager and Executive Tournament Director
“It’s great that we will be having APT as part of our grand opening festivals of Saigon Poker Club. Players will love the fact we will be getting a lot of support from Terra Royal, giving players great rates and in house amenities that will make their stay a pleasant one.” quoted by Trinh Anh Dung, Managing Director of ABC Poker
In 2018, the APT was the first international brand to set foot in Ho Chi Minh City. The event amassed a tour record of 664 Main Event entries and an overall festival prize pool exceeding VN₫ 20 Billion (~US$ 860,000). Since then, the APT has kicked off its calendar season in Vietnam, adding two more stops within the year. Some of the tour’s biggest winners were international players Lim Yo Hwan aka BoxeR, Tetsuya Tsuchikawa, Vincent Chauve, AkshayNasa, and most notably, WSOP bracelet champion Abhinav Iyer. At the January 2020 series opener, the tour’s popularity was reflected in the numbers, paying out over a million US dollars.
With borders open to foreign travelers, the APT’s return to HCMC promises to be very exciting with all the crowd favorites scheduled and sizable guarantees on major events.
