HomeLast night, APT Philippines 20202 saw another three trophies leave the awards table. The newly celebrated were Singaporean pro / 2014 APT Main Event champion Feng Zhao, Moroccan player Ahmed Ibrahimi, and Filipino player Darren Yu. Congratulations to the winners! They’ve also earned points towards the APT Player of the Series race. Make sure to view the leaderboard to see where you stand.
More trophies to be won and points to be earned with the series running from April 27 to May 8 at Resorts World Manila. Only five out of 23 trophies have been claimed. Out of all the events to conquer, the Main Event guarantees the biggest pot of Php 15 Million. Day 1B is now running. Registration is open throughout the day.

Event structure
Feng Zhao brings down the axe at the Head Hunter
The two day Head Hunter event attracted 103 eager scalpers for a cash prize pool of Php 1,386,400 (~US$ 26,477). For every player knocked out, the winner instantly received a Php 4,000 bounty reward. The cash pool flowed starting at 18th place with John Jay Magadan first to the cage, Mike Takayama missed the official final 8, and Singaporean pro Feng Zhao brought his 9 BB stack up to 16 BB. With a rollback on the final day, Zhao’s stack was a healthier 30 BB.
The final 8 opened with a very familiar face at the top, Christopher Mateo, who was also one of the leaders at Day 2 of the series opener Mystery Bounty. However, his might could not match up Zhao. Zhao knocked out every player at the final table, including Lester Timonera who went the farthest among the six Filipino contenders. Zhao pocketed the Php 353,300 first prize cash and an additional Php 48,000 in bounties. This was his career fourth APT victory.

Ahmed Ibrahimi wins the High Rollers Single Day
28 ponied up for the High Rollers Single Day event with only the top five earning a piece of the Php 1,629,600 (~US$ 31,110) prize pool. You can catch the final table action on APT YouTube and APT Twitch or read on for the recap.
At the final table, Filipino player Nicandro Filart dominated the early action, denying Brandon Mifsud and Mike Takayama a spot in the money round. Takahiro Kidokoro lost a chunk to Ahmed Ibrahimi and struggled to recover to eventually bust on the bubble. With the cash ensured, Filart engaged in a preflop raise war against Edgar Asehan and successfully got him to fold pocket Jacks to his suited A-4. Asehan made up the lost chips by knocking out Singapore’s Ong Jingxiang in 5th place. After a lengthy four handed, the lone Japanese remaining, Nagato Umehara doubled up through Asehan with pocket Jacks dominating pocket Sevens. Not so lucky for Filart whose 6♠ 6♥ were outdrawn by Ibrahimi’s A♣ Q♠. Short stacked Asehan was eliminated by Umehara to face chip leader Ibrahimi at heads up.
Within the first half hour, it looked like it was all over. On the first called shove, the chip leader Ibrahimi A♣ J♥ dominated Umehara’s A♥ 9♠, however, when the board ran 6♠ 7♦ 5♠ 5♣ 8♥, Umehara rivered a straight to even them up. The next big pot went to Ibrahimi who triple barreled a board 9♦ 5♥ 2♣ 6♠ 4♥ and was called throughout by Umehara. Ibrahimi won the pot with 9♠ 6♣ two pair over Umehara’s 8-5. Down to 14 BB, Umehara never recovered. The final hand was another nerve wracking board, Ibrahimi A♦ Q♦, Umehara A♣ J♠, the board 6♣ J♥ 3♣ for a pair to Umehara, the turn 8♥ was no help to the leader but with the river Q♥, Ibrahimi shipped it. This was Ibrahimi’s first ever APT victory.

Darren Yu awarded the PLO Hi-Lo trophy on a four way deal
Only 19 players were drawn to the Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo event for a prize pool of Php 276,400. The final four players opted to split the prize pool evenly and biggest stacked player Darren Yu was awarded the trophy for his first ever APT win.
