Throughout the day, Chauve was parked in the upper tier dropping only as low as 4th rank. During the last level of play, he shipped his biggest pot on a double up through Sahil Chutani. It was a battle of the blinds that led to a four-bet jam called by Chauve. His Q Q held against A K

Bagging up a close second in chips was Japan’s Go Mori with 724,000. Mori sent fellow countryman Tanaka Masatoshi to his knees when pocket eights turned set held against Masatoshi’s flush draw.

Rounding out the top three was Australia’s Tu Le with 714,000. Tu Le was on a steady rise throughout the day when he shipped all of Madhav Gupta’s chips with A-K over A-Q to send him straight into the leader’s zone.

Also making it through was the Day 2 entering chip leader, Dhaval Mudgal with 432,000 bagged. Mudgal collected a couple of sizable pots in the early rounds, one against Vu Hoai Lam with A-A over A-K and another against Huynh Tan Dung with J-J over 9-9.

Two local players displaying top notch performance today were Dao Minh Phu (591,000) and late entry Ta Duy Quoc Chinh (690,000). Read up on their big hands via our live posts.

The fallen

On the flip side, among today’s fallen were decorated APT champions. Defending champion Oliver Helm had a strong start then suffered a couple of big hits to depart early. Late-entry player Akshay Nasa (Main Event champion) also had a promising start bringing his stack from 50k to nearly 200k, however, he dropped out just as fast in two crushing defeats. APT Macau Main Event champion Soo Jo Kim met his end at the hands of Ta Duy Quoc Chinh whose hunt for the gutshot materialized on the river to quash Kim’s set of kings. No decorated APT champions advanced to Day 3.
