An exciting first event of the APT Philippines tournament saw Philip Padron win first place for USD $9930, defeating the runner-up Jun Te (USD $4970) in two consecutive heads up battles.
With 64 players pre-registering for the sold out event, the action began with 32 players sitting down for two flights. Each player came with the intention of winning five heads up matches in a row to make it down to the last two players. Then, once we had our last heads up match it would be decided in a best of three final.
Many of Asia’s premier players made it to the event. Those to sit down included the 2010 APT Philippines Main Event champion, Michael Cua, as well as the recent Dragon Cup winner Mark Benasa, plus Neil Arce, Martin Corpuz, Norbert Koh, Ben Abrahams, Jojo Tech, Mark Amparo, Charles Chua, Mark Rivera, Justin Chan, Kent Del Rosario and Sparrow Cheung…
