Just a reminder, the APT uses the Ante Big Blind format. Also, the Shot Clock will be utilized on all events. The Shot Clock will be introduced once the event is down to 6 tables left in play after the close of registration.
So let’s get down to the meat of it. From start to finish, APT Vietnam 2019 has plenty to offer. First off, the events to look out for are of course the tour’s top of the line tournaments:
- Main Event – VND 8 Billion (~USD 342,400) guarantee
- Championships Event – VND 6 Billion (~USD 256,800) guarantee
These events run back-to-back. Both are equipped with a customized deep structure highly praised by players. Blinds increase at a slow 60-minute pace. In addition, players can enter until the first hour of Day 2. (Structure)

The last time the APT was in Vietnam was in January for our season Kickoff event. India’s Abhinav Iyer won the Main Event to capture his first-ever major career title. To cap off that festival, Korea’s Yo Hwan Lim aka Boxer won his second APT Championships Event title. Both events awarded players huge payouts with the advertised guarantees easily demolished.
Opening Day games
Welcoming everyone in today are two popular APT events, the Monster Stack and High Rollers. These are the games that will set the pace of the APT Player of the Series race.
13:00: Monster Stack #1 – VND 11,000,000 buy-in
14:00: High Rollers $1 – VND 54,000,000 buy-in
Side Events
Apart from the featured events and opening games are an additional 21 side events scheduled. Buy-ins range from VND 5,500,000 (~USD 240) to VND 107,500,000 (~USD 4,600).
High Rollers
If you haven’t noticed, the APT has been pumping in more High Rollers events into its rosters. For this festival, we have 7 lined up with the first one kicking off on opening day.

- High Rollers Single Day #1 – July 7 – VND 43,000,000
- Super High Rollers – July 8 to 9 – VND 107,500,000 (No POS points)
- High Rollers Single Day #2 – July 9 – VND 43,000,000

- High Rollers #2 – July 13 to 14 – VND 65,000,000
- High Rollers Single Day #4 – July 14 – VND 40,000,000 (no rake)
Other events
The rest of the events comprise of a variety of No Limit Hold’em formats such as the Monster Stack, Turbos, Single Day, and two-day events. Pot Limit Omaha enthusiasts will be happy to know there are two offered, and for Short Deck, one is scheduled.
Dafabet sponsored events and promos
Dafabet – Asia’s leading online betting site – will once again be sponsoring a couple of events and extend fantastic promos to all the players at the series. APT Player of the Series
At the end of every APT stop, the tour awards the Player of the Series title to the player that has accumulated the highest number of points at the festival. The winner receives a trophy, customized watch, an APT POS champion ring, and USD 800. The tour also awards 2nd place and 3rd place with a trophy and USD 100. All events on the schedule are point-generating except for the Super High Rollers and Satellites.
APT in Vietnam
In 2018. the Asian Poker Tour opened up its calendar season for the first-time in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam at the Pro Poker Club. It was also the first time an international tour hosted an event in the bustling city. Since then, a total of four APT events have taken place in HCMC. APT Vietnam 2019 marks our fifth visit with one more lined up before the close of the year.
We encourage everyone to head on over and join the festivities. Not only are there plenty of games to enjoy but the city offers just about anything and everything for anyone and it is very affordable. Accommodations are cheap with an abundance of choices near the venue. Getting around the city is also quite easy. For foreign nationals, the currency is the Vietnamese Dong.
