MAIN EVENT Day 2 of the APT Philippines Championships Event II 2018 at Resorts World Manila wrapped up with Rehg Delos Reyes at the top of the 43 remaining players. She bagged up 451,500.

Delos Reyes kicked off the day with a stack below average but by mid-day, she had built up one of the biggest stacks at her table. When the field compressed down to 53 players – two spots to the money -, she railed Head Hunter champion Vamerdino Magsakay while simultaneously winning a heftier side pot against defending champion Metro Team Pro Lester Edoc.
Speaking of Edoc, he continued to impress and dazzle. He amassed the second largest stack of 438,000. Among the numerous pots he claimed was shipping in all of Elivannen’s chips by cracking aces. This catapulted him to the top of the heap which he maintained until bagging time.
Both Delos Reyes and Edoc were the only two in the 400K range. The next five players down the chip rung all had above 300K. Leading that pack was Liu Zhiqiang with 357,500. Zhiqiang started the day on attack mode. After one level, he jumped from 11th rank to second-in-chips. Noticeably, his aggressive style tanked many players in his path.
Next down the line was Chua Shan Hui with 340,000. It took one big hand for Chua to zoom to the upper tier and it happened during the bubble round. He doubled up with aces through Yong Hyun Yoo who held the chip lead for a large part of the day.
Also picking up a sizable pot on the bubble round was Lim Yohwan aka Boxer. He tanked two players, Georges Chehade and Joseph Talamayan, who were unable to call his four-bet shove. Talamayan folded and showed pocket queens and Yohwan returned the gesture revealing pocket jacks. He rounded out the top five with 337,000.

The bubble round ran for nearly an entire level (60 minutes). The money was reached at the fall of Mark Jerick Almusajin. He was eliminated by Joseph Talamayan with J♥ J♠ over A♣ 10♦ on a board of 2♦ 10♣ 2♠ 6♣ 3♥ with the shoves seen on the turn. Almusajin availed of the bubble protection so instead of leaving empty-handed. he was awarded his buy-in back in the form of APT tournament credits.
One of the most memorable wins of the day was Joonwon Lee’s double up. He was in danger of joining Almusajin but he spiked a lucky card on the river to survive and double up. On a board of A-4-3-5, Lee was all in with A-Q and Craig Landry had the edge with A-K. A queen showed up on the river.
