From a massive 664 entries down to 187 players, Van Ngoc Binh ends Main Event Day 2 at the helm

Main Event Day 2 of the APT Kickoff Vietnam 2018 wrapped up last night with 187 players advancing to Day 3. But it was no easy task getting there. With partner and host venue Pro Poker Club only equipped with 20 tables, Day 2 needed to be split into two flights – 1pm and 6pm – in order to fit the storming 321 qualifiers from the starting days.

And if that wasn’t enough, adjustments also had to be made to allow for players to register / re-enter until the start of Level 10. All in all, it was another rockin’ house with 61 additional entrants to bring the total Main Event numbers to a record-breaking 664 entries. At the completion of both flights, bagging up the largest stack was Vietnam’s Van Ngoc Binh with 613,500 in chips.

Main Event Day 2 Chip Leader, Van Ngoc Binh

Alike the previous days, the poker room was once again filled to the brim with every seat claimed. Seeing that this was the first major international tour gracing Ho Chi Minh, and the first where locals are able to participate, they came out strong, fully dominating the numbers. Many of them advanced to Day 3. Among them were Thi Xoa Nguyen, Harry Duong, Pham Thanh Dat (Day 2 entering chip leader), Lei hai Anh, Julien Tran, Dang Van Hien, and world class pro John Phan to mention a few.

Joining the local force were many other notable players such as Tetsuya Tsuchikawa, Bastian Blumenrother, Czardy Rivera, Feng Zhao, HIsashi Ogi, Eugene Co, Yoichi Uesugi, and Ben Martin.

Day 3 resumes at 1pm on Friday, January 26, 2018. For a complete list of the Day 3 qualifiers, head to our Facebook page.
