The Asian Poker Tour Noumea 2016 closed up another thrilling day of Main Event action at the Casinos De Noumea with the Final 8 now set. Sitting well above the others was China’s Zhong Wen Chen who bagged up a towering stack of 796,000.
The highlight of the day was when eventual chip leader Zhong Wen Chen eliminated Osalian Sarkiss on the last hand of the day to lock up the Main Event’s final eight players. On what many consider a “set up” hand, the flop showed 8♥ 8♠ 6♠. Sarkiss then moved all in after a bet from Chen. Everyone jeered as the players tabled their cards:
Zhong Wen Chen: 8♦ 8♣
Osalian Sarkiss: 6♦ 6♣
The turn and river did not affect the outcome as Osalian Sarkiss was eliminated in 9th place; leaving the remaining 8 players to battle it out for the first-ever APT Noumea Main Event title.
