Main Event Day 2 at 1pm; PLO Hi and MSW event on tap; Sayo and Bolotaolo bag trophies

The Asian Poker Tour kicks off the top of the week with another fun-filled day at the APT Philippines III 2016 in Resorts World Manila. Day 2 of the Main Event begins at 1pm followed by two side events later in the day, the Pot Limit Omaha Hi and the MegaSportsWorld Deep Stack Turbo. The day will also see two players receive awards for topping their respective events.

109 players return for Day 2 of the Main Event

Day 2 of the Main Event opens with 108 players returning to the felt for another eight round bout. The past two qualifying days saw the highlight event draw in 186 entries with a large number of Asian circuit pros and APT regulars in attendance. Buy-in to the event was USD 1,650 generating a grand total prize pool of USD 270,630. As announced yesterday, payouts will begin at 27 players with the eventual winner taking home a hefty chunk of USD 67,660 in cold hard cash.

Entering Day 2 with a massive stack is Singapore’s Ho Bao Qiang. Qiang earned his 269,300 chips at yesterday’s Day 1b. Also from the same flight are Japan’s Yoichi Uesugi with 233,600 in chips and Norway’s Markus Garberg with 218,300 in chips. These three players are the overall chip leaders.

It will surely be an exciting Day 2 with many previous APT Main Event champions in the lineup. Among them are the only two-time champions, Henrik Tollefsen and Jeon Seung Soo looking to score their third. Cards will be in the air promptly at 1pm. Side Events: Pot Limit Omaha Hi and MSW Deep Stack Turbo

There are two side events on the APT Philippines III 2016 menu today, the Pot Limit Omaha Hi and the MegaSportsWorld Deep Stack Turbo. The PLO Hi event has a USD 440 entry fee and starts at 2pm. The MSW event begins at 6pm and has an entry fee of USD 110.

Filipino JC Sayo captures his second trophy of the series

Two days ago, Filipino JC Sayo went from rags to riches at the Head Hunter event winning his first-ever APT trophy. Last night, Sayo overcame a field of 92 entries at the No Limit Hold’em 1 Day event to capture his second trophy of the series and the first place purse of USD 7,280. Filipino Jan Bolotaolo wins the Ante Only Turbo event

Also picking up a win last night was Filipino Jan Bolotaolo at the Ante Only Turbo event. There were 84 entries for a prize pool of USD 8,150. Bolotaolo defeated Japan’s Junichi Nakagiri at the heads up round to claim the first place cash prize of USD 2,220 and the event trophy.
