It’s Friday, the weekend is here, and that means all of you weekend warriors are in for a big day at the Asian Poker Tour with Day 1a of the APT Poker Weekend Series Manila 2016 Main Event taking center stage today. Cards will be in the air promptly at 1pm at the APT Poker Room located in the Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel & Casino. Buy-in is PhP27,500.
Since the start of the year, the APT introduced a couple of new incentives to spice up everyone’s experience at the Main Event. The first big perk was the APT Main Event Bubble Protection which awards the player who bubbles a generous consolation prize of one free seat to the next APT Main Event of the same value. These past months, this incentive has proven to be a very big relief for several players who finished just one spot shy of the money. So our best advice to everyone attending the main, get insured! In order to qualify for Bubble Protection, here are a few simple steps that must be completed:
- Pre-register to the Main Event
- Draw for your seat before starting time
- Have your chips put into play on the first deal of round number 1
In regards to the mechanics, players who qualify for Bubble Protection will maintain that status on a same day re-entry. Players wanting Bubble Protection on a next day re-entry will have to repeat the steps to qualify.
While the bubble spot got a perk, the eventual winner also got its own added prize. In addition to the first place purse and the APT Championship Trophy, the winner will be awarded the coveted solid silver APT Championship Ring. Seven of these gorgeous bands have already been claimed with the latest one won last month by Japan’s Shinichiro Tone at the APT Philippines II 2016.
It will be an exciting weekend at the felt so for those unable to attend, we will have live updates for you throughout the day posted in the Live Reporting section of the website. Then at 6pm there is the Last Chance Main Event Mega Satellite for those still searching for a cheaper seat to the Main Event. Buy-in is P3,300. Last night saw another six players win seats via this satellite:Takeshi Sasaki, Kai Fong Fam, Myeong Hwan Park, Jae Wook Shin, In Chul Sin, and Delfino Ty.
