Slated for today: Ante Only, High Rollers, Super Deep Stack Turbo; Sideridis bags a trophy

We are down to the last two days of Asian Poker Tour Cambodia 2016 festivities which means lots more poker hitting the green felt. There are three side events slated for today, the Ante Only No Limit Hold ‘em, the High Rollers, and the Super Deep Stack Turbo.

Kicking off at 1pm is the Ante Only No Limit Hold ‘em event with a buy in of $330. It may be Hold ‘em, but with a bit of a change-up on the betting rules making it just a bit more interesting and certainly a lot of fun. The High Rollers event gets rollin’ at 3pm with a buy-in of $1,650. This is scheduled to be a two-day event. Then at 5pm, the Super Deep Stack Turbo event stirs up the felt with a buy-in of $220. Deep stack turbos are one of the most popular events at the APT, and in this festival it continues to prove to be one of the most attended.

Yesterday saw a couple of players take home trophies with the most prestigious one claimed by Japan’s Hisashi Ogi who captured the Main Event title. He earned $16,530 in cash, the APT championship trophy and APT championship ring.

Deep Stack Turbo 2 Champion, Michael Sideridis

At the Deep Stack Turbo 2 event, there were 24 total entries for a prize pool of $2,330. After Japan’s Go Mori was railed by Australia’s Michael Sideridis in the bubble, USA’s Randolph Schain was eliminated in 4^th place by Norway’s Kai Paulsen. At three-handed, Nguyen Phu Danh fell to Sideridis’s higher pair, and the heads up round between Paulsen and Sideridis was set. Sideridis had a 4:1 chip advantage but seasoned player Paulsen was up for the challenge. Paulsen won five consecutive pots to overtake Sideridis. Answering back, Sideridis doubled up with a straight holding J♥ Q♥ on a board of 8♦ 10♥ 9♠ K♠ 7♣. With only 9k behind, Paulsen threw it all in on the next hand and was eliminated in 2^nd place. Sideridis earned $1,000 for his win and the event trophy.
