After three days of Main Event action at the Asian Poker Tour Cambodia 2016, we are down to the final eight players at the Queenco Hotel & Casino in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. With 48 total entries and a buy-in fee of $1,100 the prize pool amounted to $46,560 with the eventual winner clearing the $18,660 first place purse. Along with the cash prize, the champion will also receive the APT Championship Trophy and the gorgeous solid silver-banded APT Championship Ring. Only five players will be getting some profit which means three unfortunate players will be going away empty-handed.
Entering the final eight with the largest stack is Frenchman Stephane Carrier with 266,500 chips. At Day 2, Carrier had a steady run of chips flowing into his section but accumulated much more at ten-handed where he also dusted a player. Coming in second-in-command is Vietnam’s Le Ngoc Khanh who amassed a hefty 202,500 chips after landing a big double up and maintained it until the completion of the day.
The rest of the field are far behind with Japan’s Hisashi Ogi in third position with 108,500 chips, Vietnam’s Kim Lay Ly in fourth with 100,000 chips, UK’s Samad Razavi in fifth rank with 85,500 chips, Singapore’s Eugene Lin Weiquan next in line with 76,5-00 chips, Australia’s Daniel Tan with 69,000, and bringing up the rear is Japan’s Takashi Hirukawa with 54,500 chips. Among them, Razavi is the most recognized having won the APT Player of the Year for the past four consecutive years, from 2012-2015. He currently ranks second in APT POY 2016 leader board.
The Main Event Bubble Protection is also in effect with only three out of the eight players qualified, namely Khanh, Razavi, and Hirukawa. The final eight Main Event action will begin at 1pm. Today’s Side Events
There will be two side events running alongside the Main Event, at 2pm, the Monster Stack will heat up the felt. Buy-in is $550. Players will receive a stack of 30,000 in chips which amounts to six hundred times the starting big blind. At 6pm is the highly popular Deep Stack Turbo 2 event with an entry fee of $110.

No Limit Hold’em 2 Champion, Nguyen Phu Danh
Yesterday saw two players celebrate victories at the side events. At the No Limit Hold ‘em 2 event, there were 21 entries for a prize pool of $6,110. Vietnam’s Nguyen Phu Danh eliminated Peru’s Yohn Paredes during the bubble round and then entered the money stage with a massive artillery of chips. After a long battle at four-handed, the players decided to strike a deal with everyone guaranteed the same amount while the winner would receive an additional cash bump. In the end, it was Danh who rose to victory to claim $2,040 in winnings.

At the WeLoveSport.com Deep Stack Turbo event there were 38 entries for a prize pool of $3,690. There were several APT regulars in the field, Guam’s Ron Tse, Thailand’s Ben Abrahams, Denmark’s Michael Kim Falcon, and Japan’s Iori Yogo however, they would all fall before getting close to the money. With only five players seeing some wad for their wallet, Japan’s Toshimasa Ito was first to get paid, finishing in 5th place. Australia’s Michael Sideridis was next, leaving only Vietnamese players at the final three. Nguyen Hoang Anh bowed out in third, and Hung Nguyen Viet was defeated by Ha Duong for the trophy.
