The Monday poker grind kicks off today at the Asian Poker Tour Cambodia 2016 with Day 2 of the Main Event at the Queenco Hotel & Casino in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. Out of the 48 total entries – 25 for Day 1a and 23 for Day 1b – only 29 players will be returning today at 1pm for another battle at the felt. Announced yesterday, another eight rounds will be played today and the final day will take place on Tuesday June 21st, one day ahead of schedule. The prize pool was also displayed yesterday, a total of $46,560 with five places seeing the money. The first place purse is a sweet $18,660.
Heading the way with the biggest stack into Day 2 is Englishman Dylan Gibson with 54,300 chips. Gibson accumulated his stack at Day 1a. Vietnam’s Le Ngoc Khanh comes in second-in-rank with 51,950 chips, amassed at Day 1b. Vietnamese player Kim Lay Ly takes the third spot in the chip rung with a stack of 51,375.
Among the returnees are some big guns, such as Japan’s Iori Yogo who currently leads the APT Player of the Year 2016 race. Yogo already has one title under his belt having won the Opening Event. UK’s Samad Razavi will also be in the Main Event battlefield and like Yogo he has one title at the festival, claimed at the Open Face Chinese Pineapple Shootout High Roller event. One player to be on the lookout for is Norway’s Kai Paulsen who has already taken down two events at the festival, the No Limit Hold ‘em 1 and the Pot Limit Omaha Hi event. Denmark’s Michael Kim Falcon, Japan’s Tetsuya Tsuchikawa, Peru’s Yohn Paredes, and Vietnamese player Nguyen Phu Danh are also in the mix.
Today’s Side Events
While Day 2 of the Main Event chugs along, two side events will be churning up the other tables. At 2pm is the No Limit Hold ‘em 2 event with a buy-in of $330, and later in the day, at 6pm, the WeLoveSport.com Deep Stack Turbo hits the floor with a $110 entry fee.
