While the waves of the Gulf of Thailand roll onto the shores of Victory Beach, the Asian Poker Tour Cambodia 2016 rolled in at the Queenco Hotel & Casino in Sihanoukville, Cambodia for the Opening Event which began at 1pm. Seen at the felt were many new faces as well as a handful of APT regulars including the current top two leaders of the APT Player of the Year rankings, Japan’s Iori Yogo and UK’s Samad Razavi. Late registration stays open until the start of round seven. Buy-in is $110.
In addition to the day’s opener, the first of five satellites to the Main Event will be taking place at 4pm. This has a buy-in of $120 with one seat offered to the Main Event per 10 players. At 6pm, the second side event of the festival takes place, the Ante Up for Charity event with an entry fee of $150.
Returning for its third consecutive year, the APT Cambodia 2016 offers a total of 19 events throughout the festival – an $1100 entry fee Main Event and 18 side events – with buy-ins ranging from $110 to $1650. The Main Event begins on Saturday, June 18th, with an entry fee of $1100. There are two day one flights with the second one on Sunday, June 19th starting at 1pm.
For players still making their way to the APT Cambodia 2016, the host venue, Queenco Hotel & Casino, has been newly renovated. Rooms are offered at a very affordable price of $50/night for a Deluxe Room for returning guests, and $55/night for a Superior Room for first time visitors. There is now a well-stocked gym and a swimming pool overlooking the sea. The hotel also offers free round-trip transportation for APT guests coming from Phnom Penh International Airport to the hotel.
