In our constant quest to expand the Asian Poker Tour (APT) into different parts of the world, we are proud to announce a new venue slated for our 2016 calendar year, APT Daegu! This exciting upcoming festival will be held on March 23 until March 31, 2016 at the Hotel Inter-Burgo Casino in Daegu, South Korea.
Alike most APT poker festivals, the APT Daegu will have a slew of events running throughout the nine days. Keep in mind, all of the fees will be in Korean Won which is the country’s currency. The events range from 165,000KRW (around $136) to a Main Event entry fee of 1,650,000KRW (around $1,360). The schedule will also have a Pot Limit Omaha High Rollers event with a 1,000,000KRW (around $823) buy-in fee and a High Rollers event for 3,000,000KRW (around $2,470) per entry. A very vital piece of information for Korean’s who wish to attend the APT Daegu, in accordance with the Korean law, residents of Korea are not allowed to enter the casino unless they provide proof of dual citizenship. As for citizens from other countries, please check with the Korean embassy for the necessary requirements to enter South Korea.
Things to Do in Daegu
Daegu is the fourth largest city in South Korea with over 2.5 million residents. Although nearly half the population is non-religious, about a quarter of the population practices Buddhism. Daegu is considered to be the third largest metropolis in the country, which means, a lot of things to do and sights to see. Daegu also has a one of the cleanest and fastest subway rail systems with small stores and restaurants at the stations. Daegu also has its own international airport.
For those who like to shop, Banwoldang is the place to be. There are countless shops lined up with an abundance of bars/restaurants to choose from. Banwoldang also has a booming nightlife that literally lights up the streets like Times Square. Daegu’s night markets are also a popular destination such as Chilseong Market with an endless choice of food and produce as well as shops and boutiques on the side streets.
For the more adventurous soul, one of the most popular places to hike is to Gatbawi where a giant Buddha sculpture is situated. There are also several temples to visit such as the Dongwasa Temple and the Giant Standing Buddha Temple. For a more relaxing time, experience the Jjimbangs and bathhouses that can be found around the town. These are just a few of the things to do in Daegu, but the best way to see the city is to take a city bus tour and go from there.
