Welcome Event Resumes; Battle of the Nations and Charity Event on Deck

The Asian Poker Tour Finale 2015 is back for the final day of the Welcome Event at the Waterfront Manila Pavilion Casino Filipino. After a record-breaking total of 287 entries for the opening event held yesterday, the prize pool grew to P1,670,300, greatly surpassing the guarantee, with 71 players remaining to battle it out today for the healthy first place cash prize of P412,600. The money stage will begin at 36 players. This is the largest opening field for the 2015 APT year, making this a very successful start to the APT Finale.

Coming in as the overall chip leader is Mark Benasa from the Philippines who earned his 142,700 chips at flight B. Running second-in-chips is Harry Beatty from Malaysia with 137,300 chips, and in third position is Michael Capinpuyan (Philippines) with 113,500 chips.

Among the qualifiers were Triple Crown APT POY Champion Samad Razavi from the UK and Japan’s Iori Yogo. Both players are in a heated race for the APT POY 2015 title with Razavi leading by a small margin. Both of these players are returning today with above average stacks.

Welcome Event, Battle of the Nations and Ante Up for Charity trophies up for grabs today!

Running alongside the Welcome Event is one of APT’s new events on the roster, the Battle of the Nations Team Event. This is a freeze-out event. Each team consists of two players of the same nationality, and every country can field as many teams as desired. This event has a P17,600 buy-in fee per team and late registration is available until the end of six levels. Click here for the Rules and Mechanics.

The last side event of the day is the Ante Up for Charity event for the benefit of the Association De Damas De Filipinas Orpahange. This event is slated for 7pm and has a P7,500 buy-in fee. Unlimited re-entries are available until the end of six levels.

There will also be a Main Event Super Satellite at 3pm for P2,800 with re-buys and one add-on, and a Main Event Mega Satellite at 6pm for P5,500.
