With two side events dragged to a second day plus two side events—the Head Hunter and Ladies of Poker—on tap today, there will be four APT champions named Thursday at the 2015 APT Asian Poker Series Manila 2015 held at the Resorts World Manila in Pasay City, Philippines.
The High Rollers event with PHP 108,000 buy-in drew 45 players and only 10 return Thursday to battle for the title and the PHP 1,528,000 champion’s purse. A total prize pool of PHP 4,365,000 is at stake in this event and only six will make the money.
Markus Garberg from Norway and Florencio Campomanes from the host country have are in pole position entering Day 2 of the High Rollers with 259,500 and 233,000 in chips, respectively.
The pair will be joined by their compatriots in the final table of this event with two other Norwegians (Preben Stokkan with 77,000 and Mikal Blomlie with 63,500) and one Filipino (Andrew Gaw with 134,400) also still in the race for the high-stakes crown. Five others– Titus Lee, Thomas Ward, Stephane Blouin, Rache Lee and Webster Lim Chin Wei—complete the final 10 in this event.
In the NLH Multi Re-Buy + 1 Add-On event, eight players, who are already assured of at least PHP 35,100 return to the felt to battle for the first place prize of PHP 183,000. Cuong Nguyen (USA) leads the pack with 252,000 and APT regular Azusa Maeda (Japan) is close behind with 221,500.
Completing the list of remaining players in this event are Camilla Samsing (Norway), Nikita Staroverov (Lithuania), Rogelio Paca (Philippines), Jun Saito (Japan) –and Nicolas Noguera (France).
Both the High Rollers and RB+AO events will re-start at 1:00 PM.
Also on Thursday, the popular Head Hunter event (PHP 16,500 buy-in) is scheduled at 1:00 PM; and the Ladies of Poker event (PHP 5,500 buy-in) is at 1:30 PM.
