Head Hunters, Ladies Take Spotlight in Cebu Today

After a pair of days where three APT champions were crowned, two more are set to join them in the winners’ circle today with a couple of side events on tap Thursday (August 13).

The always-popular Head Hunter event (PHP 16,500 buy-in) is set to start at 1:00 PM while the Ladies of Poker event (PHP 5,500) follows shortly at 1:30 PM.

Historically, the bounty-flavored tournament, where bust-outs will earn players PHP 3,000 for every elimination, has had drawn a good number of players in recent years.

The last time the Asian Poker Tour visited Cebu, 109 runners joined the head hunter event and this stop’s version looks to duplicate or better that number considering 247 entries joined the 1M Guaranteed Opening Event last Tuesday.

In that version of the Head Hunter event, it was Korean Choong Kon Kim who won the title and PHP 321,000 for his efforts.

Thursday will also feature the usual satellite tournaments to the Main Event (PHP 50,000 buy-in), which is set to begin tomorrow. The highlight tourney will have two starting days, Day 1A on Friday and Day 1B on Saturday, both with start times at 1:00 PM.
