The Final 8 of the APT Poker Weekend Series Manila battle about to start!

We are at the last day of the APT Poker Weekend Series Manila, held at Casino Filipino, Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel and Casino, where the Final 8 players of the Main Event will take to the felt at 1:30pm, each of them looking to claim all the chips and take home the first place purse of PHP911,000 plus the first Main Event championship trophy of the series.

Entering the day in the chip lead is a player everyone knows quite well in the APT circuit, Samad Razavi from the UK with a massive 788,000 chips. Razavi is the APT Player of the Year reigning champion for the past three years, and is currently in second position in the APT POY 2015 leader board. With this win, he will surely overtake Lester Edoc who is in the leader’s seat.

With the exception of Razavi, the other contenders in the Final 8 are all newbies at the APT Main Event felt. This should prove to be a very interesting final battle as we have seen how fearless each player has been in earning their spot into the final table.

Running second-in-chips is Piyush Gupta who railed three players during the final two tables; Antonio Angeles who won his seat to the Main Event in the APT 100K guaranteed event last month, and who railed one of the big stacks of Day 2; Julian Hasse has had his share of eliminations in the Main Event but he gained most of his chips by picking the right spots to up his arsenal; Calvin Tan was the chip leader at the end of Day 1a and has managed his stack well to keep him away from the danger zone for most of Day 2; Benjie Lim kept a steady rise throughout the entire tournament, railing some of the toughest players in the field (Georges Chehade and Choong Kon Kim); Jung An Yoon the lone woman in the field  was short-stacked for most of the day but like Hasse, picked her spots well to chip up and is now ready to give the boys a run for their money; and Gerard Bringley, a very steady and ruthless player who held the chip lead with a massive amount of  chips for quite some time in Day 2.

Here are the Final 8 players and their chip counts:
Sam Razavi 788,000
Piyush Gupta 559,000
Antonio Angeles 490,000
Julian Hasse 317,000
Calvin Tan 292,000
Benjie Lim 200,000
Jung An Yoon 166,000
Gerard Bringley 130,000

There will be a rollback to level 22 with blinds at 6000-12000 with an ante of 200. Good luck to all the players! For a read on the Main Event action, head to the Live Reporting section of the website.
