Manuel Blaschke of Austria was the big winner on the second day of the APT Philippines 2015 at the Resorts World Manila (RWM) in Pasay City, Philippines after taking down the High Rollers title and taking home a champion’s purse of $31,000.
One of the key hands in this high-stakes tiff was when Blaschke faced a big bet from Korea’s Joenghan Lee with an already healthy pot in the middle when play was three-handed.
The Austrian asked the Korean if he’s going to show his hand if he decides to fold and had a resounding yes as an answer. That was all the clue Blaschke needed as he made the call and was shown Lee’s ace-three for complete air while Blaschke tabled a king for the top pair.
“I wanted to get information and most of the time if the opponent says yes, he’s bluffing; but about him I wasn’t sure. The other tell I had was that he was strong, so I wasn’t really sure,” admitted Blaschke about the crucial call against Lee.
That big pot win put Blaschke in a dominating position against the two other players who finished in the money; Lee, who settled for second place and $18,600 and APT regular Linh Tran, who finished third for $12,480.
Blaschke quickly dispatched of Lee in the heads-up round when the Austrian’s suited 2-3 completed a straight on the flop and completed his journey to becoming this APT stop’s High Rollers king.
