Action in the APT Asian Poker Series Cebu 2015 Main Event continues today at the All In Poker Sports Club in Waterfront Casino & Hotel in Cebu City, Philippines. 63 runners was the total in yesterday’s Day 1A and 28 players survived play, how many more will join them after the second day in the highlight tournament of the first event of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) season?
Leading the pack so far is Anyang Xu of China with the biggest haul on opening day of the main event with 85,275 in chips. American Fred Romeo is not far behind at second place with 83,500 while six other players also had a good day with over 70,000 including Japanese players Hideki Takafuji (79,675), Yoichi Uesugi (79,100) and Tsuji Yasuyuki (70,275). Others inside the top eight after Day 1A are the Philippines’ Brian Mason (74,850) and Mc Yeldrab Mantos (72,475) and Korea’s Joseph Kim (70,275).
Most likely to join, or re-enter, the action for Day 1B are three-time APT Player of the Year Sam Razavi (United Kingdom); Filipino pros Richard Marquez, Mike Takayama, Ian Marcos and Flo Campomanes; Korean Choong Kon Kim and Japanse Iori Yogo, who rank 1st and 2nd in the current APT Player of the Year 2015 Standings, respectively.
Meanwhile, two side events also finished Friday. Martin Gonzales of the Philippines took down the new poker craze, the Open Face Chinese (OFC) Pineapple title for PHP 98,800 and Choong Kon Kim won the Head Hunter event for PHP 321,600.
Aside from the main event action, one side event, the NLHE #8 with PHP 13,200 buy-in is scheduled Saturday (January 31st). Also on tap all day are the One-Hand Satellites for as low as PHP 550 to PHP 5,500 plus the Last Chance Main Event Mega Satellite with PHP 5,500 buy-in.
