Opening Day Blast: 302 Runners For RWM Poker Fiesta 2M GTD

RWM Poker Fiesta 2M GTD Draws A Huge Crowd

The APT-RWM Poker Finale 2014 opened with more than a bang Wednesday after a total of 302 runners joined the opening day side event RWM Poker Fiesta 2M GTD. With Flight A attracting 139 participants and Flight B drawing 163, it was the perfect day to start the final stop of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) in the Philippines this year.

The Final Day of the two million guaranteed tournament with an PHP 11,000 buy-in is set on Thursday (December 4) at 1:00 PM when the Flight A and Flight B survivors will try to reach the money round, starting at 36th place, or even all the way to the first side event title of the eight-day poker event held at the Resorts World Manila (RWM) in Pasay City, Philippines.

While PHP 2M was guaranteed, the total number of entries boosted the prize pool to nearly PHP 3 million. The champion of the event will receive the lion’s share of PHP 723,500 and the worst ITM finisher will get PHP 20,500.

Chasing crucial points for the 2014 APT Player of the Year race, the likes of two-time APT POY winner Sam Razavi (No. 1 in 2014 race entering this week) of England; APT Philippines 2014 Main Event champion Feng Zhao (No. 2) of Singapore; APT Asian Series Manila 2014 champion Mike Takayama (No. 3) and runner-up Jay Lubas (No. 8) both from the Philippines; Yo Doi (No. 4) of Japan; Kai Paulsen (No. 5) of Norway; and S.J. Kim (No. 7) of South Korea were among the big names who joined the early action at the RWM felt.

Expectedly, both APT Chief Executive Officer Jeff Mann and Tournament Director Lloyd Fontillas were ecstatic of the early huge turnout— perhaps a sign of how things are going to be for the rest of the event. The APT-RWM Poker Finale 2014 is scheduled from December 3 to 10 with the highlight main event starting on Saturday (December 6) for Day 1A and Sunday (December 7) for Day 1B.

Other side events scheduled on Thursday (December 4) are the High Rollers event with PHP 108,000 buy-in starting at 1:00 PM and the Pot Limit Omaha Hi (PHP 16,500 buy-in) and Ante Up for Charity (PHP 7,500) events at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM, respectively. For full schedule check the Event Schedule page.
