The Final 8 Players of the APT Asian Series Manila 2014 Main Event
The day started with 44 players all battling for a seat into the final table. After 6 hours of play, the Final Eight was decided with Raymi Sanchez from Sweden sitting at the top with 1,867,000 chips.
The turning point for Sanchez was when he railed Dhanesh Chainani in 23rd place. During the hand, Chainani tried to push Sanchez out of a pot by shoving his massive 271K stack on the river. Although Sanchez had him covered, Sanchez still tanked for a long time until he eventually called. Sanchez won with his K♥ J♥ top pair on a board showing J♣ 8♦ 5♥ 10♣ while Chainani held a K♣ Q♣ bluff. With that hand, Sanchez boomed over 1.3M chips and continued to eliminate a few more players to become the chip leader of the Final Eight.
Running second in chips, and the next to cross the one million chip mark, is Jay Lubas from the Philippines with 1,661,000 chips. Lubas claimed a consistent number of pots throughout the day, and then eventually railed Jay-r Mascunana and Jun Saito to secure his seat in to the final table.
Samad Razavi of England was the last player to join the million club with a total of 1,037,000 chips. By making into the Final Eight, Razavi has now regained the APT Player of the Year 2014 top spot.
Here are the Final Eight players who will be battling it out on the felt tomorrow to claim the massive first prize cash purse of P4,017,000.
