Tan Tai Zheng Leads at the End of Day 1A; Paulsen Wins the NL Hold’em Event

Main Event Day 1A Chip Leader, Tan Tai Zheng

Out of the 156 players who entered Day 1A of the Main Event at Resorts World Manila, only 63 survived the cut into Day 2 and leading the pack is APT Asian Series Cebu 2012 Champion, Tan Tai Zheng from Singapore with 166,500 chips. Right on his tail is APT Asian Series Cambodia 2014 Champion, Michael Lindstrom from Denmark with 155,400 chips.

Zheng was having a very steady run throughout the day until he landed a jackpot hand that sent his stack skyrocketing from 48K to well over 120K chips thus eliminating fellow Singaporean player Bryan Huang in the process. Click here to read up on all the action on that hand.

Lindstrom, on the other, accumulated a massive amount of chips when he railed two players with his Pocket Aces, and then later, followed it up with another takedown with Big Slick.

Kai Danilo Paulsen, Champion of No Limit Hold’em 1

Running alongside the Main Event was the No Limit Hold’em 1 event with 102 players in the field and at the end of the night, Samad Razavi was eliminated in third place by Ronald Dimaano who faced big stacked Kai Paulsen at the heads up round. It only took several hands for Paulsen to seize all of Dimaano’s chips and claim the P379,000 first prize.

Day 1B of the Main Event will begin at 1pm later today, then at 3pm we have the Pot Limit Omaha Hi event, followed by the MegaSportsWorld Deep Stack Turbo at 7pm.
