The Asian Poker Tour’s much-anticipated return for the APT Asian Series Cambodia 2014 was off to an impressive start as players made their way to the Queenco Casino and Hotel at Victory Beach in Sihanoukville.
A total of 87 entries registered for the opening Welcome to APT event which exceeded expectations. In addition, a good number of generous players signed up to do their part for a worthy cause in the Ante Up for Charity; where a third of the prize pool will be donated to Let Us Create, a local Cambodian non-profit organization.
“ We are delighted normally we expect around 40-50 players on the first day as most players are normally still flying in… To have this number so early in the week is a fantastic start,” said APT Tournament Director Lloyd Fontillas.
Euryd Rivera, who is currently ranked first in the APT POY rankings, has been seen in the field looking to maintain his top spot. Back-to-back APT Player of the Year Samad Razavi hopes to rack up points on opening day as well. Notable players also seen on the felt are APT regular Ben Abrahams, Denmark’s Kristian Faering, Philippines’ Renato Villanueva, current Top 5 POY Jae Chul Chang and recent APT Philippines champ Feng Zhao.
The poker festivities continue Thursday, July 24th with the NLH Multi Re-Buy event at 1:00 p.m.; the High Rollers at 2:00 p.m. and two satellite tournaments at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. For complete details, view the APT Asian Series Cambodia 2014 Events Schedule.
