Top APT POY Players and Regulars Expected at APT Asian Series Cambodia

In July of this year, the Asian Poker Tour makes its return to Cambodia at the Queenco Casino & Hotel located in the beach town of Sihanoukville. Expected are a number of players currently leading the race for the 2014 APT Player of the Year and familiar faces at APT events.

Current APT POY Leader Euryd Rivera

Leading the way is current APT POY leader Euryd Rivera from the Philippines who is under pressure from back-to-back APT Player of the Year Sam Razavi‘s plan to make a run at the standings in Cambodia.

2012 & 2013 APT Player of the Year Sam Razavi

“It is always the job of the current number one to defend… as Euryd defends in Cambodia, I shall humbly and willingly accept the burden of defending the number one spot at the following event,” said Razavi.

Azusa Maeda holds second spot in the APT POY standings

But at the moment, it’s Japan’s Azusa Maeda nipping on the heels of Rivera for the top spot. After a runner up finish in the Main Event at the start of the year in Cebu, Azusa has been a very close second to Euryd in the standings.

Tetsuya Tsuchikawa & Kristian Faering look to climb back to the top

Hoping to climb back up and surpass their performances in last year’s POY race, Tetsuya Tsuchikawa and Kristian Faering (ranked third and fourth respectively in the 2013 APT POY) will also be making their way to Sihanoukville, Cambodia. Tetsuya leads the Japanese contingent while Kristian hopes to break his current streak of bubble finishes.

Ian Brion, Ogi Hisashi and Ben Abrahams also in the mix

Also making their way to the felt are APT regulars Ogi Hisashi who’s been following the APT even up to Goa, India. Philippine online wiz Ian Brion will use his skills from the virtual tables to represent the Philippines. While Ben Abrahams will be seen coming in at the last minute into the tournaments as it has become his custom to do so.

In addition to the schedule of tournaments, cash games are provided by Poker@Queenco

The APT Asian Series Cambodia 2014 will be held from July 23 to 30 at the Queenco Hotel & Casino located at Sihanoukville, Cambodia. For more info, please check out the APT Asian Series Cambodia 2014 Info page
