Less than six hours and some before the target mark, the remaining players are fighting two battles at this point of the APT-RWM Iron Man Poker Challenge: against sleep and against being the bubble boy here at the at Level 2 Premier Club of Resorts World Manila.
Rest is not an option for most as the blinds are now at 5000/10000/1000—giving them away could be crucial and could mean their tournament life, especially the short-stacked players.
After 30 hours, 1 minute and 21 seconds of play, the bubble was finally burst. A visibly tired Lester Edoc from the Philippines shoved his stack worth just over 40,000 with 4♥ 6♦ and found caller who had him dominated with A♣ 4♠.
No miracle appeared on the board and Edoc is officially the bubble boy of this one-of-a-kind tournament. The remaining 18 players are now assured of at least a $1,320 payout with $18,240 going to the champion.
We’ve made the rounds as play came down to the final two tables and here are the estimated chip counts of the players:
Sam Razavi – 545K
Liam Anderson – 360K
Norbert Koh – 480K
Dexter Salmingo – 720K
Flo Campomanes – 1.1M
Jojo Tech – 1.65M
The target for our remaining 18 survivors is the current Guinness World Records “Longest Continuous Poker Tournament”, which stands at 36 hours, 34 minutes and 41 seconds set in a tourney in Delaware, USA in August 2012. The exact mission is to be playing beyond 8:34:41 a.m.
With an ITM finish on the bag, can at least two remain playing and rewrite the history books? We’ll find out in about six hours…
One more side event, the $350 No Limit Hold’Em, is scheduled Sunday at 1:00 p.m. For full details, visit APT-RWM Iron Man Poker Challenge Event Page.
